Are we there yet?

"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11

When my kids were little and we were on a road trip, they would ask my husband or myself "are we there yet?" Truthfully, parent confession time, it might have been a tiny bit bothersome after they asked again only 10 more miles down the road. In reality, they were checking how much closer they were to their goal, in the case of our daughters it would usually be their grandparents house or a vacation spot.

As an adult, we need to ask ourselves "are we there yet?". Have we achieved our goals? Or created goals we'd like to attain. Once we have them set in place if we don't quickly achieve that goal, we can get discouraged. A wise pastor once said, "you're sitting in God's waiting room when you don't get the answer right away."

Breathe, rest and relax. Our road map to obtaining these goals is our faith walk. It might not happen overnight, the next day or even the next week. By studying, reading the Bible, and praying, we can keep on the path He has created for us, toward His goal for us.

Many times we take a side trip off the path and it is full of rocks or thorns and causes us a further delay in reaching the goal.

We can sense the gentle nudging of the Spirit to help us stay on that path. "Are we there yet?" That is a question only you and the Heavenly Father can answer. Even as a "directionally challenged" person, I can follow the one who can navigate me through this amazing journey of life.

Have you ever gone through a dramatic change in your life and realized it was all for the best?
