S.I.M.P.L.I.F.Y. with Nicole Lynn

Nicole is a professional organizer, author, speaker to name a few of the amazing things she does. I've asked her to join us with her solutions for organizing. With a busy life, I need these, I thought you might too. Thank you for guest hosting, Nicole!

Thanks for having me, Stacy.

This "might" be a solution...

I was recently asked what my one BIG organizing mantra was. The first thing that came to my mind was Simplify. We need to simplify our spaces - so they aren't so cluttered. Simplify our calendars - it almost seems like there is this need to constantly be going somewhere or having kids in multiple activities. I think if we simplified our lives to what created harmony in them, we'd be more organized. What do you think?

S is for space, it is valuable.

I stand for... ignoring the negative! For me organizing isn't just about physical items - it is also about thoughts and people. If you focus on negative thoughts and/or surround yourself with negative people that aren't creating harmony in your life. Sometimes you need to declutter those thoughts and some people.

M is for Memories...I think we have all heard this statement, or a version of it, fill your life with memories - not stuff!! When we celebrate on holidays, how do you focus on creating memories and not filling the house with stuff?

P is for Plan...Taking a moment to look at your calendar and see what is coming up, whether work or home, will help you stay organized. Do you have a work deadline that you need to plan out how it's going to get done? Have family come into town that you need to prepare the guest room for? A special dinner you want to prepare, and you need to buy the ingredients. Planning will keep you from running around last minute.

L is for Less...I don't think a lot of explanation is needed. Where in your life do you need to take this advice?

IT IS OK to say "NO".  Remember when you say, "NO", you are still saying "YES". Do you have a hard time saying no?

F is for Four...When working on organizing your space I believe you need four boxes or bags. The standard ones being - keep, donate, and trash. I also want you to have a belongs elsewhere. How many times have you come across something that belongs in another room, you say I'll just run put that back - only to have super shiny squirrel moments causing you to forget what you were doing in the first place? The fourth box gives you a place to put the item{s} until you are done.

YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE.
What is living to you? What legacy do you want to leave behind?

Nicole Lynn is one of those naturally born organizers - her own mother describes her as "always needing order" and yes, she does feel a label maker is a great birthday present.  After 20 years of working in corporate America, Nicole decided to do what gives her the most joy: organizing spaces for people that bring harmony to their worlds.  Nicole used to spend her Friday nights helping her friends with bathroom drawers, kitchen shelves, and shoes - she now brings her expertise to your life and spaces.

Nicole Lynn started Decluttered Spaces in 2013 to help people organize their homes and offices, thereby living happier lives with less stress. She still organizes on-site for clients, rolls up her sleeves, and gets things in order.

Nicole has what it takes to bring your spaces to the next level.  She believes firmly in creating spaces that work for you and not for her.  This belief is imperative to create harmony in your spaces.  Let Nicole, your Harmonizing Specialist, change the way you use your space and make it a place you want to be.
