In Between the Pages Author Guest Host Hers to Love's Sherrinda Ketchersid

Friends, you are in store for an absolute treat! Sherrinda Ketchersid is a talented author of medieval romances that are downright swoon-worthy!

Her newest novel, Hers to Love, arrives September 13th but is available for pre-order. Y'all, I had the delight and privilege to read an Advanced Readers Copy (ARC). It is absolutely a captivating story full of heart-tugging moments.

Now. . .it's Sherrinda's turn!

When I first began writing this story, I used a lot of Scottish dialect, even in the characters’ thoughts. But it wasn’t long before I realized the number of unusual words might distract from the book itself and make it hard for the reader to immerse themselves into the story. So, I went back and changed everything except for what was in their actual dialogue.
I also thought I better put in a glossary at the back of the book in case people were confused about what certain things were. Here is an example of some words I used in the book.
·       Bairns - children
·       Bannock - small round flat bread made with oats
·       Brat - large cloth tied around waist and over shoulder. Sometimes called a plaid.
·       Braw – handsome
·       Dinna - don’t or didn’t
·       Fash – worry
·       Fortnight - two weeks
·       Ken – know, knew
·       Kirtle – skirt
·       Se’ennight - one week

I hope the glossary does the job. Goodness knows, I don’t want readers scratching their heads and wondering what in the world is going on! I’m really curious how readers will respond.

Thanks again for having me, Stacy! I am thrilled you visited us, Sherrinda, thank you so very much! Congratulations on your new novel!!

He’s running from his past—she’s running from her future.

Fiona McGowan, a beautiful Scottish widow without hope for a family of her own, travels to St. Mary’s Convent to become a nun. In route she is kidnapped by handsome Highlander Adam MacIntosh in a case of mistaken identity. Adam, laird of the MacIntosh clan, is attempting to free his brother held captive by the rival Fergus clan. The failure of his plan leaves him reeling with betrayal, death, and a wee babe in sore need of a healer.
Though forced to delay her vows, Fiona’s anger and distrust thaws as rising tensions within Adam’s clan threaten to ignite an uprising. She chooses to aid her noble but beleaguered captor in his quest to restore peace among his Highland clan. But as the two learn to trust each other, the question remains: Can they move beyond the hurts of their past, or will the past be their undoing?

Thanks for having me on your blog today, Stacy! I’m happy to share a little about my thought process regarding the wording in my new book, Hers to Love, which is set in the medieval Scottish Highlands. It takes Fiona McGowan, the sister of Ian McGowan from my previous book, His to Keep, and gives her a love of her own.

My review-

I've been looking forward to reading Fiona's story for a while now. Sherrinda Ketchersid's newest novel kept me entertained, engaged, and enthralled.

The storyline tugs at your heart and pulls you through each page until you arrive at the finish line. Happy, and wanting to read more by this talented author.

Any fan of medieval romance, historical romance, and swoon worthy romance needs to get this novel. You deserve a treat.

I received this book from the author but was under no obligation to write not post a review.
